Fixes CORE-461

Editor assessment

This message does everything a small commit should. The subject states the change imperatively and precisely — catch blocks now throw instead of swallowing errors — and the body answers the question most messages ignore: why. The one-sentence rationale (suppressed errors produced misleading downstream test failures) teaches the reader the failure mode, not just the edit. The chore(integration) classification fits the test-harness nature, the scope names the area, and the 'Fixes CORE-461' footer is grammatically well-formed and meaningful. Complete, honest, and instructive — an exemplar of economical commit writing.
